Microblading and Eyebrow Tattoo Removal

Jim Trenholm • February 28, 2018

Permanent and semi permanent cosmetic tattoos can dictate your confidence for years. If the outcome is not what you expected, don’t settle to live with your regret—remove it.

At Unthink Inc. we offer safe and effective microblading and eyebrow tattoo removal with the use of one of the market’s most advanced lasers: Syneron Candela’s PicoWay. Working at a pulse rate that is 1000 times faster than traditional tattoo removal lasers, PicoWay allows for complete clearance of unwanted tattoos in less time.

What are Cosmetic Tattoos?

Since the boom of modern tattooing in the early 20th century, people have had cosmetic tattoos. The most common of these were liner for the lips and eyes, as well as drawn-on eyebrows. However, the style did not accurately resemble natural brows and resulted in cartoonish features. Thankfully this has evolved over time, with a variety of ink pigments, needle sizes and expert techniques now available. These tattoos are made to last permanently, with ink similar to that of regular tattoos.

What is Microblading?

Within the last few years, Microblading has taken the cosmetic industry by storm. Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that is able to create naturally fuller looking eyebrows with the use of a handheld blade rather than a traditional tattooing machine. With this precise tool, individual hair-like strokes are meticulously drawn on along the brow bone. The ink lasts anywhere from 12 to 24 months, giving the client flexibility to change their look every few years. While some may want bad microblading removed immediately, others may choose to simply wait the two years for it to fade naturally.

Why remove either of them?

There are a variety of reasons to remove either microblading or cosmetic tattoos. For the latter, the most common reason is to make way for more advanced, natural techniques that have come since tattooing. Other reasons may include: poor handiwork; pigment changing colour or fading; the re-growth of natural hairs; wanting less commitment and more freedom for variety.

Microblading Tattoo Removal Process

The removal process for both microblading and cosmetic tattoo removal is similar to that of our regular tattoo removal. Skin is first thoroughly cleansed and prepped, then cooled with the Zimmer Cryo Chiller to help naturally numb the area. After the targeted area has been treated with the PicoWay laser, an all-natural aftercare ointment is provided to the client to help soothe the skin. When combined, these steps require about an hour of time for the initial treatment; all are vital to achieving safe, accurate and effective results.

At Unthink Inc. we also provide an optional numbing cream for purchase. The topical cream should be applied approximately 30 minutes before the client’s treatment to ensure the area is completely anesthetized and the most comfortable experience. The lasering process itself will only last about five minutes depending on the size of the eyebrows. If only a portion of the brows is being removed, a blocking baton is used to ensure the results are as precise as possible.

The PicoWay is one of the most advanced tattoo removal mechanisms in today’s market. Using ultra-fast and short pulses (measured in picoseconds—one trillionth of a second), PicoWay is able to clear more ink in less time. This increased speed also allows less heat energy to be absorbed by surrounding skin, making the entire process much more comfortable and efficient when compared to traditional tattoo removal lasers. Our clients have described the sensation as a rubber band snapping against the skin, along with a warming sensation. Skin will be red and slightly swollen immediately after treatment. This is completely expected and will return to normal in 24 to 28 hours. In order to successfully clear all unwanted ink approximately six sessions (spaced six to eight weeks apart) will be required.

What to Expect After Microblading Tattoo Removal?

Immediately after treatment the area will be red and swollen and may remain this way for up to 48 hours. After treatment a brow ice pack will be provided to help keep these symptoms to a minimum. Keeping the skin cool and dry for the first day or two is the best way to speed up the healing process.

If you have existing brow hairs on top of your cosmetic tattoo or microblading, rest assured they will not be heavily affected by the laser. Hairs may lose some pigmentation and turn white, however this is completely natural and will not last long. Hairs will not fall out due to laser treatment (this is not the same laser used for laser hair removal).

Microblading Tattoo Removal Aftercare

Removing both cosmetic tattoos and microblading share the same aftercare regimen: rest, sun protection, proper care and hydration. An aftercare kit will be provided after your initial treatment to ensure each client is completely confident in the process. We recommend taking a day off after treatment, in order to let the body properly rest. If this is not possible for you, we can ensure your appointments are scheduled on Fridays, giving you the weekend to rest and recuperate for Monday. During this time, drink lots of fluids, avoid strenuous physical activity, and keep out of the sun. Icing for 15 minutes several times and sleeping as upright as possible is also recommended.

In the aftercare kit, we provide a complementary tin of vitamin E based NovE gel, an all natural moisturizer to help the area heal. Apply at least two to three times a day for full results. Avoid makeup for the first 48 hours/ few days after treatment, however mineral makeup can be used if necessary.

Remember, your body is what will ultimately remove the ink. Be good to yourself and make healthy decisions; the results will follow.   Don’t spend the next few years trying to cover up your regrettable cosmetic tattoos. Remove them with PicoWay and Unthink Inc. Book your free consultation today.

Eyebrow tattoos have become an increasingly popular beauty trend, offering a semi-permanent solution for those seeking perfectly shaped and defined brows. However, not everyone ends up satisfied with their results. Whether it's due to a change in aesthetic preferences, an allergic reaction, or less-than-desirable outcomes, you might find yourself considering removal. At Unthink Inc. , we specialize in helping clients achieve the look they want through effective removal methods. Here’s a comprehensive guide on when to consider eyebrow tattoo removal with a combination of saline injections and laser treatment. Understanding Eyebrow Tattoos and Their Risks Before diving into when to consider removal, it's crucial to understand what eyebrow tattoos entail. Typically, these tattoos are a form of cosmetic tattooing, where pigment is implanted into the skin to create the appearance of fuller, darker eyebrows. While many are thrilled with the results, there are potential risks involved. The process can cause skin damage, infections, or allergic reactions, which in turn may lead you to reconsider your decision. Symptoms Indicating Removal Might Be Necessary 1. Faded or Uneven Pigment: Over time, the pigment used in eyebrow tattoos can fade or turn into an undesirable color, especially with exposure to sunlight. If your eyebrow tattoos have started to look uneven or have changed color, it might be an indication that removal is your best option for a fresh start. 2. Allergic Reactions: Unfortunately, not everyone’s skin reacts well to tattoo pigments. Allergic reactions can result in redness, itching, or swelling. If you experience these symptoms, removal could alleviate discomfort and help restore your skin to its natural state. 3. Discomfort or Scarring: The tattooing process can sometimes damage your skin, causing discomfort or scarring. If your eyebrow tattoos have left visible scars or if you have ongoing discomfort, removal can potentially improve the appearance of your skin, reducing both visible and physical distress. 4. Change in Aesthetic Preferences: Your style and preferences can evolve over time. What seemed like a perfect choice five years ago might no longer align with your current taste or beauty goals. If your eyebrow tattoos don't fit your desired look anymore, removal offers a safe and effective way to reclaim your natural brows. The Dual Approach: Saline Injections and Laser Tattoo Removal For those considering removal, Unthink Inc. offers a unique approach combining saline injections and the PicoWay laser treatment. This dual method is designed to deliver optimal results tailored to individual client needs. 1. Saline Injections for Lighter Pigments: In some cases, saline injections may be recommended to lift lighter pigments before proceeding with laser treatment. This helps to create a more uniform appearance and prepares the brows for effective laser removal. Our specialists, will work closely with you to coordinate the saline process, ensuring a smoother transition to laser treatments. 2. PicoWay Laser for Final Touches: Once the lighter pigments are addressed, the PicoWay laser is employed to remove the remaining darker elements of the unwanted brows. Known for its precision and safety, this state-of-the-art technology targets the tattoo pigment with minimal impact on the surrounding skin. Preparing for Your Removal Session Before undergoing treatment, a consultation with a qualified specialist at Unthink Inc. is vital. We’ll assess your tattoos and discuss your goals and expectations. Here are some tips to prepare for your session: - Avoid sun exposure at least two weeks before your appointment to reduce skin sensitivity. - Refrain from using topical creams or medications that can make your skin more sensitive. - Communicate any skin conditions or concerns with your technician. Recovery and Aftercare Post-treatment care is essential for optimal results. After your session, you may experience some redness or swelling around the treated area. To ensure a smooth recovery, follow these aftercare tips: - Avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen as advised. - Keep the treated area clean and moisturized. - Refrain from picking at any scabs or flaky skin.
